MIchael Robert Amey '67 passed away on September 17, 2009 at the age of 60. Mike was born in Seaside on March 3, 1949, graduated from Wilson High School and spent a few years in the Army as a surgical tech in Germany during Vietnam. He was on his way to success as a sales manager until he was paralyzed in a diving accident in 1984. Since then he has spent his life trying to turn big dreams into reality. His perseverance finally paid off with the successful completion of a non-profit, low-income apartment complex for disabled people. This endeavor included the Oregon state legislature passing House Bill 3030, also known as the "Amey Bill", which redefined disabled and allowed persons with disabilities and their families to access state bond financing.
