MALCOLM R. GAITHER (1958)
US NavyMalcolm R. Gaither (Mac) graduated from Wilson in 1958. He served in the US Navy from October 1, 1958 to September 26, 1962 as a Boilerman on destroyers and he is an Atomic Vet.
Mac was part of the secret atomic bombs at Christmas Island in the South Pacific in 1962. Mac was with the Soviet research vessels under the bomb and were reading the fall out and seismic blasts. He tells us that this guarded information was not released to the public until 1986 and then only partially.
Mac is now a retired Baptist Minister and Messianic Rabbi for 40 years.
